Well... I posted already this post at tumblr, but i do want it to be posted to here as well... why is it in BD spoilers you ask? cause i would also try to ![]() But Before i start, i would like to tell you that i have no proper education in japanese and just reliant to search engines... but for what i have experience/learn, each kanji has a million kanji behind them... so even though the pronunciation and meaning wouldn't match... i can be a bit sure that the true meaning behind the name is hidden among the word itself... and I'm pretty much Guessing here ![]() Anyway Back to the topic, i’ll present now some meaningful names in corpse party Satoshi (哲志) — First Kanji (哲) is “Clear, Philosophy” — Second Kanji (志) is “Resolution, Intention” — You know how Satoshi is the leader type, He is very determined to save his friends. He is also a wise person (Relationship-wise), In one scene in Blood Drive, He played Mind games with Yoshiki. Satoshi with his words alone, forces Yoshiki, to tell him that something is happening concerning Heavenly Host. EDIT:Well, he actually saw the charms sticking out of his bag… but still.. He made yoshiki admit it..Like i said Relationship wise.. He is wise when it comes to his friends and family Yuka (由香) — 1st Kanji Reason — 2nd Kanji is Fragrance — You know, how Satoshi lost his sense of reason when Yuka died… Satoshi would do anything to save Yuka (remember he is the only guy, who stormed his way to Sachiko when Yuka died?) — The Fragrance part shows Yuka’s Cute Childishness ![]() Mochida (持田) — 1st Kanji is Hold — 2nd Kanji is Rice Paddy — “Hold” has both significance to the both of mochidas, To Satoshi, He has pretty much control of his party… As he is the standardized leader of the group While to Yuka…. Holding her…. Bladder ![]() Naomi Nakashima (直美 中嶋) — Naomi has two kanjis Honest and Beauty — While Nakashima has Inside and Island — Naomi is stubborn and acts childish but Inside, she knows that and sometimes feel guilty afterwards (also She.is.HOT. XD) Yoshiki Kishinuma ( 良樹 岸沼) — Yoshiki has “Good” and “Stand/Tree/Wood” — Kishinuma has “Beach” and “Swamp” — Pretty much saying that He is a Good person… though his a part of his name (Kishi) is beach… Kishi, can also be written as “Knight”… a stalwart protector… It pretty much shows his personality beyond what one can see… A delinquent with a heart of gold :DDD Ayumi Shinozaki (あゆみ 篠崎 ) — Ayumi is written in hiragana.. So it’s pretty much impossible to pinpoint its true meaning BUT i found a translation of Ayumi that fits her… Ayumi can be written as “歩”… meaning progress… most of the progress in corpse party comes from her side of the story right? ![]() — Shinozaki… Along with Shinohara… I cant make meanings because both names pertains to bamboo grass and a place Maybe A connection with Seiko perhaps? BTW, Shinozaki has Bamboo and Cape while Shinohara has Bamboo and Field… Well, In the spirit of Corpse Party Wordplay *looks at Naho >.>* it can be re-written as Shi-no-zaki meaning Death’s cape and for Shi-no-hara.. Death’s Field? ![]() Mayu Suzumoto (繭, 鈴本) — Mayu (繭) means Cocoon — Suzumoto has Bell and Book — I have Explained Mayu’s Name already… you can check it out here (http://allbutteredupscans.tumblr.com/post/76933823818/mayu-and-her-name-tragedy-from-the-start) — Bell? You know how Bells means in corpse party.. it can only means End of Classes or in other words Death!! Alas! Tragedy that in her name ![]() — Well, at least the Book part shows her literature loving side ![]() Sakutaro Morishige (朔太郎 森繁) — Morishige means Heavy/Thick forest — Sakutarou, well… i’ll explain later.. — You know, Morishige is a man of many mask… Like a thick forest, you cant really see his true nature..as he hides in that fores — About Sakutarou, while Sakutaro is just a boy’s name (Kanji doesnt make sense) but I think* he is named after Sakutaro Hagiwara, a japanese poet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakutar%C5%8D_Hagiwara ), as said in the wikipedia page “His unique style of verse expressed his doubts about existence, and his fears, ennui, and anger through the use of dark images and unambiguous wording.” This theme can almost be compared to morishige’s monologues Legend * - Cause the only things that appears in Google Search is Morishige, Sakutaro the living doll from umineko and that poet…. Seiko (世以子) — Means World and Girl.. — Though “Sei” can also mean Saint/Holy if written differently… — You know, she’s pretty much a saint in all aspects… ![]() — Also “Sei” can be written as “Life”… She is full of Life, both literally (Personality) and Ironically (Cause you know, She’s dead) Kizami (刻命) — Has Carve/Cut/Chop (刻) and Life (命) — Self Explanatory ![]() — To the Family aside from yuuya, It means to Carve life… Like Molding people to become great (If i remember it correctly, Yuuya’s Sister and His brother are great and talented in their field)… but for Yuuya… It can mean as literally to “Carve Life”.. Stab stab stab Saenoki (冴之木) *Naho’s Last Name* — Saenoki “Skiled/Talented tree” — This one… I pretty much notice at the start of the game with my anime knowledge (the word saeno/Saino always pops out when the MC is a pretty much has no visible skills… Always Calling the Saeno’s/Talented… Lucky persons) — Naho is a Talented person indeed… A Model (Yes..at least in the manga), Prestigous Book Writer and a Powerful Psychic too… Now for the new names Misuto Kiriya (御簾徒 桐谷) - Though, i would like to start with Yagoura (御秡如協会) first though since it does have a connection with misuto such as the 1st kanji on their names are the same (Grandpa seems to love misuto much... i think XD) - Yagoura... First Kanji can mean govern/honorable 2nd damage grain and 3rd better (the last 2 kanji i guess means association.. Kyokai i think) - really sounds like a philantrophic organization, govern the damage grain and make it better (Overanalyzing much DKG?) - Now here is the fun part... the shared (and first) Kanji in Yagoura and in misuto's name can mean "govern" but it has also an another meaning... Manipulate... which Misuto do most in BD (i should really analyzed their name first before playing lol)... Maybe Yagoura has an ulterior motive as well, thats why they were destroyed by Martuva (well, maybe i dont know their history lol) - the next Kanji in misuto's name, bamboo screen/rattan blind... of course this just means Misuto has hidden agendas... - the final kanji (in Misuto) can mean ephermeal, emptiness, vanity, futility... well, what he did was shortly stopped by ayumi, he is pretty much alone, proud and well futile.. - his last name is just means paulownia valley which may mean he does have magical skill... from what i heard from ghost hunt, paulownias are used for making effigies and look at paulownia high 95% of the introduced students there have powers Niwa - Red feathers I cant find any meaning lolKuon (玖遠) - First Kanji Black Jewel and 2nd is far (Thats why the text below my kuon avatar is Faraway Black Jewel -> Kuon HA!) - Jewel may pertain to her incredible brain/spiritual ability... the black part is the cost of her ability... her life... - She's pretty much skin and bones due to being the best at ANY field... Submitted her thesis by the age of 11... being the best in Math Science Business and more.. thus using more brain and spirit power than normal humans. Currently, she has the body of a 90 year old. 90 years worth of energy... - She looks damn hot on her BLACK dress too <3 Aiko ( 亜衣子) - Now i know why her name is so friggin complex when it can be written in more simple manner - cause the first kanji in her name can mean "Come After, Rank next".... There is a scene in Blood Drive where she explains that Kuon is so much talented that Aiko is pretty much living in her shadows.... Everywhere Aiko goes, it's always Kuon that takes 1st place - the 2nd Kanji is Dress, fashionable ![]() - 3rd Kanji is child No magali? like the others not on the list, i can't make meaning in the kanji's haha ![]() Well, that's it for now... but for the meantime, ENJOY Edited by DeathkaiserG, October 19, 2014, 8:13 am.

As for Miduki Magari: ·「十」「三」「月」("ten", "three" and "Moon/Monday/Month" respectively) ·「愛」「狩」 ("love" and "hunting") Now feel free to make your guess, DKG :3 Edited by L3Z4, October 19, 2014, 8:41 am.

I know what ayumi's name means. 歩みnow is ayumi's name, just written differently and it is a noun. It can mean either. 1. Walking; step. Or 2. History; record. (Please correct me if I misinterpreted the word) |

@Poké: Ayumi's name is written in the hiragana syllabary as「あゆみ」, and can't be "converted" into Kanjis since there are "countless" combinations, each one with different meanings. Take a look at this Wikipedia article for possible writings. Edited by L3Z4, October 19, 2014, 9:15 am.

@L3: Oh crap...thanks for bringing that up again... I've got a vague idea now...plus it may connect us to dead patient... of course my guess is based on theories floating after BD and DP.. About Ayumi, I did have the same train of thought with Pokes but since I'm guessing on how gris gris made their names... the hiragana must be some sort of way to hide the meaning behind it.. (HIDDEN PROTAGONiST) The kanji they must be thinking is... 歩 meaning progress/walk and you can see the most progress in CP games is in Ayumi's part Edited by DeathkaiserG, October 19, 2014, 9:59 am.

Spoiler: click to toggle About Ayumi... well, since her name is very common within Japan, I'm not sure if it really has any "hidden" meaning. Edited by L3Z4, October 19, 2014, 10:03 am.

It is what you call "Artistic Masking" (lol I made it up) They (the creators, GrisGris.. not ayumi's parents) purposely hide it in hiragana... the real meaning behind Ayumi's name.. Well, even in PC98.. if you get Ayumi stuck in the closed wall.. the game will never progress... I'm guessing here but I do need to defend what I say...lol Edited by DeathkaiserG, October 19, 2014, 10:11 am.
